BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 28. Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Islamabad Atadjan Movlamov met with Federal Minister of Energy of Pakistan Khurram Dastgir Khan, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

During the meeting held in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, the parties discussed prospects for the development of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, as well as the intensification of trade and economic cooperation.

They discussed the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline projects and the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line.

Dastgir Khan, stressing the importance of these projects for ensuring the energy security of Pakistan, said that his government fully supports these joint energy programs and is interested in their speedy implementation.

At the end of the meeting, the parties noted the importance of holding regular bilateral meetings and visits to accelerate the implementation of major joint projects such as TAPI and TAP.

It is expected that the TAPI gas pipeline will annually transport 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas along an 1800-kilometer route from the Turkmen Galkynysh, the second largest gas field in the world, to the Indian city of Fazilka, located near the border of India with Pakistan.
