BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. The Seydi Cotton Spinning Factory located in the Lebap region in the east of Turkmenistan produced 500 tons of cotton yarn from January through February 2023, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
During the reporting period, the factory fully fulfilled the production plan.
In general, the factory plans to produce 5,260 tons of cotton yarn for the current year in the amount of over 56.09 million Turkmen manats ($16 million).
Launched in February 2014, the factory exports its products to countries such as Türkiye, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Poland.
Over 1.25 million tons of cotton were harvested throughout Turkmenistan last year. In general, there are almost 40 cotton gin factories in the country.
Turkmenistan plans to allocate more than $300 million for the implementation of over 30 projects in the textile industry by 2025.
In general, over the years of independence, about $2 billion were invested in the construction of new and reconstruction of existing textile enterprises.
