ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 19. Leading South Korean companies strive to actively participate in the implementation of oil and gas as well as petrochemical projects in Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
This opinion was expressed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Han Duck-Soo, during a meeting with the Speaker of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova during her visit to Seoul.
During the talks, the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on the prospects for further cooperation, as well as the further development of trade and economic ties between Turkmenistan and South Korea.
On the same day, the head of the Parliament of Turkmenistan held a separate meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jin-pyo, and took part in the first Turkmen-Korean inter-parliamentary consultations.
During a thorough exchange of views on the current agenda of bilateral cooperation, the parties stressed that this event will serve as an effective platform for the expansion and development of inter-parliamentary partnership.
Meanwhile, cooperation between Turkmenistan and South Korea is an important direction in the foreign policy of both countries, covering economic, energy, and infrastructure spheres. South Korean companies are actively involved in infrastructure development projects in Turkmenistan, including the construction of oil and gas facilities and ports, as well as the development of renewable energy sources.
