ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 26. The Turkmen Logistics Association, uniting over 150 transport and logistics companies in Turkmenistan, has signed a memorandum with the Russian Afanasy Nikitin Association, Trend reports.

According to Turkmen Logistics, the purpose of the signed memorandum is to assist each other in the development of forwarding and transport logistics at the bilateral and regional levels.

The parties are exploring collaboration in coordinating agricultural commodity supply along the North-South transportation route.

To note, Turkmen Logistics has already concluded about 20 similar partnership agreements with associations from Europe, Asia, and the CIS countries. Thanks to these efforts, the country is becoming an important link on international transit routes and opening up new opportunities for Turkmen logisticians.

Afanasy Nikitin, a Russian association, is working on initiatives for the Volga-Caspian transport corridor. Its primary objective is to establish a unified logistical network for exporting agricultural products from the Volga and Caspian areas to the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean.

In April, the forum "Transport Logistics of the Caspian Region 2024" will be held in Astrakhan (Russia), where Turkmen partners will be represented at the invitation of the Afanasy Nikitin Association.

Furthermore, the North-South Transport Corridor was founded on an international agreement signed on September 12, 2000, by Russia, Iran, and India.

The agreement has been ratified by 13 nations in total (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Armenia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Sultanate of Oman, Russia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Ukraine).
