ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 30. Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov took part in the III Ministerial Conference 'Central Asia + Italy', which took place on May 29 in Rome, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the event was attended by the heads of foreign ministries of Central Asian countries, Italy, as well as representatives of the EU.
The foreign ministers discussed the state and prospects of cooperation in the foreign policy arena, in particular in matters of preserving and strengthening regional and global stability and expanding interregional cooperation, including in trade, economic and investment spheres, transport interconnection, energy, and ecology.
In his speech, Rashid Meredov noted the high role of Turkmen neutrality as an effective tool for promoting peace and stability and paid special attention to issues of regional security, ecology, transport, water resource management, transitional energy, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Three thematic sessions were also held within the framework of the forum: 'Energy Transition and Global Challenges', 'Connectivity', and 'Higher Education and Knowledge Networks'.
The parties agreed to cooperate systematically within the framework of the Central Asia + Italy format and develop a medium-term action plan for this purpose.
Meanwhile, the III Ministerial Conference “Central Asia + Italy” included thematic sessions on water and energy cooperation, global connectivity, and higher education.
