BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 30. Japan has loaned $200 million to Uzbekistan within the project for the development of the value chain in the horticulture sector,Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade.
Exchange notes on the project were signed in Tashkent by Japanese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev.
These funds will be used to expand the value chain of horticultural crops and improve access to finance by providing a loan in two stages to farmers, farms that are engaged in the production, processing and distribution of horticultural crops. The loan will also build the capacity of participating financial institutions and support the end users of farms.
The loan is granted for 15 years, including a five-year grace period.
