BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. Uzbekistan has shared data on its population, Trend reports via Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

According to statistics, as of January 1, 2023, Uzbekistan’s population stood at 36.02 million, increasing by 2.9 percent compared to the January 1, 2022 figure (35.2 million).

State Statistics Committee notes that, as of January 1, 2023, the number of people living in urban areas exceeds the number of people living in rural areas by 646,500 people.

Furthermore, some 2,955,700 people live in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent.

Samarkand region - 4,118,400 people

Fergana region - 3,976,500 people

Kashkadarya region - 3,482,600 people

Andijan region - 3,322,800 people

Namangan region - 2,997,600 people

Tashkent region - 2,992,600 people

Surkhandarya region - 2,806,700 people

Bukhara region – 2 ,009,800 people

Karakalpakstan region - 1,976,300 people

Khorezm region - 1,958,200 people

Jizzakh region - 1,475,600 people

Navoi region - 1,055,500 people

Sirdorya region – 896,600 people
