BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. Uzbekistan’s Samarkand will receive some 100 electric buses with a length of 10.5 meters produced by the Chinese Yutong company by the end of 2023, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport.
Ministry says that the delivery of 100 electric buses will be realized in stages. In the first half of 2023, Yutong will deliver some 6 buses, while the remaining 94 - by the end of the third quarter.
In general, it is planned to supply about 350 buses from the mentioned Chinese company to Samarkand.
The purchase will be realized by the joint project of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, the khokimiyat of the Samarkand region (local government), and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The total price of the project is estimated to be $95 million.
Furthermore, recently Uzbekistan purchased some 10 new buses from the Yutong company. The newly purchased Chinese buses will be used to service passenger transportation on the "Bukhara-Tashkent-Bukhara" route. The new buses will make it possible to transport an additional 550 passengers daily from Bukhara to Tashkent.
