BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Uzbekistan and the UAE's Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) signed agreements worth $400 million on the implementation of projects, aimed at the modernization of Uzbek transport infrastructure, development of preschool education, as well as enhancement of infrastructure in rural areas, Trend reports press service of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The relevant agreements were reached during the latest meeting of President Mirziyoyev and the President of the IsDB, Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, within the second Tashkent International Investment Forum (ТIIF-2023).

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of implementing projects to support entrepreneurship and private investment, thus improving financial instruments and actively involving the bank's structures in this field.

Furthermore, the parties touched upon the matters of IsDB's technical assistance in the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO and the creation of an innovation ecosystem in the country.

Meanwhile, the portfolio of IsDB’s projects in Uzbekistan currently exceeds $1.3 billion, by covering priority sectors of the economy.
