French Development Agency eyes to prepare new green economy support program for Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 26. French Development Agency (AFD) is currently in talks with the Government of Uzbekistan to prepare a second sub-program under the Green Economy Support Program for the country, Trend reports.

The matter was discussed at the meeting between Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the representatives of the AFD.

The sides mainly discussed the policy and technical support measures and the expansion of cooperation in the field of green finance.

Norkulov informed the delegates about the current status of Uzbekistan's large-scale reforms for green economy development.

AFD reps noted that several promising joint projects between the Uzbek Government and the agency are being effectively implemented. One of these projects involves the development of the country's green economy, which includes the implementation of environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies in Uzbekistan, further cooperation in the field of green finance, green taxation, and the extensive attraction of investments in the green economy.

The sides also exchanged opinions on the involvement of foreign and domestic experts in the field of forecasting the green economy to achieve all the goals set in the matrix by the end of this year. At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to organize further meetings for detailed discussions on these projects.

In November 2022, Uzbekistan and the AFD signed a cooperation program until 2025 of total value of more than 1 billion euros.
