BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 30. Gas production in Uzbekistan from January through may 2023 decreased by 10 percent, or 2.1 bcm, year-on-year - from 22 bcm to 19.8 bcm, Trend reports.
As evident from the Statistical Committee's data, the country's gas condensate production in the reporting period also declined by 8 percent, or 44,500 tons, compared to the first five months of 2022 (555,300 tons), and amounted to 510,800 tons.
Meanwhile, the production volume of mining and quarrying enterprises of Uzbekistan from January through May 2023 amounted to $1.8 billion, or 9.5 percent of the total production volume in the country in the reporting period. Thus, Uzbekistani mining industry saw an increase of 12.5 percent in production value year-on-year ($1.6 billion over the first 5 months of 2022).
Uzbekistan is one of the largest natural gas producers globally, producing around 60 bcm of gas per year, of which 35-40 bcm are supplied by the Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
