TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 27. A memorandum establishing twinning ties was signed between Uzbekistan’s city of Kokand and the South Korean city of Chongju, Trend repots.
The news followed a recent meeting between representatives of the South Korean delegation headed by the Chief of the Department of Industry and Investment Support of the South Korean city of Cheongju, Hye Yong-Hoi, and the Governor of Uzbekistan’s city of Kokand, Marufjon Usmonov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation between the cities in the spheres of trade, tourism, and science, as well as technical, industrial, educational, and economic sectors.
Chongju City’s representatives stated their interest in participating in economic and social projects implemented within Uzbekistan’s region.
The signed memorandum provides for mutually beneficial cooperation between the cities in the fields of education, culture, tourism, and investment.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan and South Korea signed an agreement for the attraction of funds in the amount of $4.3 million from the Republic of Korea in March 2023.
Currently, joint projects worth $13 billion are being implemented in Uzbekistan with the help of South Korean funding.
