ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 3. The Organization of Turkic States is improving its activities more and more, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the 10th summit of heads of state of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana, Trend reports.
"We fully support practical efforts to establish a research center for trade cooperation among Turkic states. For its future effectiveness, we must take measures to eliminate trade barriers, widely implement new mechanisms, increase exports and imports, and develop e-commerce platforms," he noted.
"The diversification of global logistics chains and transportation corridors, as well as the creation of a unified transit network, are of significant importance. We support expanding the potential of the Middle Corridor to meet the growing demand for freight transportation," the president stated.
"We also support the expansion of multi-sectoral corridors passing through our countries to reach the markets of China, South Asia, and Europe, as well as the digitization of transportation services," he added.
The 10th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the OTS has started today in Astana.
Within the meeting international documents in the fields of emergency response and metrology are expected to be signed. In addition, the Astana Act and the Declaration of the Astana Summit will be signed, as will a cooperative action plan for the implementation of the OTS transport communication program.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the OTS will be transferred to Kazakhstan.
This year, Uzbekistan chairs the Organization of Turkic States. The beginning of the chairmanship was marked by the OTS Summit in Samarkand, held under the slogan “A new era of Turkic civilization: on the way to common development and prosperity” in November last year.
