TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 10. The Turkish Aksa Enerji company and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade have signed an agreement for the construction of a $250 million-worth thermal power plant (TPP) in the Nishan district of Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region, Trend reports.

The document was signed between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and the Chairman of the Board of Aksa Enerji, Cemil Kazanchi.

The company expects to launch a 400-MW power plant by the end of 2024. Aksa Enerji will provide the plant’s design, financing, construction, and operation for 25 years.

Construction work is set to begin in December this year, and the commissioning of the facility is scheduled for the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, Aksa Enerji launched two power facilities, including a 240 MW combined-cycle power plant in the Kibrai district of the Tashkent region and a 270 MW gas-piston TPP in the Bukhara region, at the beginning of 2022.

Earlier this month, a new unit at the Thermal Power Plant in Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya region, built in collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power, commenced generating energy.

This 1.5 GW power plant is poised to produce a substantial 12 billion kWh of electricity annually. Notably, the utilization of modern energy-efficient technologies is expected to reduce gas consumption by 1 billion cubic meters compared to existing similar thermal power plants.
