Uzbekistan, AFD strategize joint initiatives for 2023-2025 dev’t program

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, December 7. Uzbekistan and the French Development Agency (AFD) have discussed the implementation of joint projects and existing agreements, in particular, within the framework of the agreed program for 2023-2025, Trend reports.

The subject was discussed during a meeting between Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, and Matthew Wasser, Regional Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) for the Western Balkans, Turkey, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

The parties agreed to have five yearly bilateral meetings in early 2024 to consider future strategies to develop financial and technological cooperation as a result of the meeting.

Meanwhile, the 2023-2025 Partnership Agreement with AMD addresses finance difficulties through grants, technical assistance funds, and loans. As of date, the total amount of funding granted reaches $1 billion.

Uzbekistan's Business Development Bank and AFD signed a credit arrangement for 30 million euros earlier this year.

In accordance with the document, Uzbek Business Development Bank and AFD will bolster cooperation in the development of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and women's entrepreneurship.

The parties will also cooperate in the training of specialists of the Business Development Bank.
