Iran exported the first liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) produce of the South Pars phases 6, 7 & 8 development plan to Indonesia, the development project manager said here on Sunday.
SHANA quoted Mohammad-Javad Shams as saying that the 6500-ton consignment has been exported to Indonesia via the Pars port in Assaluyeh.
Phases 6, 7 and 8 refinery is projected to produce 172,000 barrels of gas condensates, 4390 tons of liquid propane and butane, and 370 million cubic meters of ethane gas daily to be fed to the Assaluyeh petrochemical units. The extra 3.64 billion cubic meters of gas will be injected into Aghajari oil region's wells.
Liquefied petroleum gas is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as a fuel in heating appliances and vehicles, and increasingly replacing chlorofluorocarbons as an aerosol propellant and a refrigerant to reduce damage to the ozone layer.
Varieties of LPG bought and sold include mixes that are primarily propane, mixes that are primarily butane, and the more common, mixes including both propane (60%) and butane (40%), depending on the season-in winter more propane, in summer more butane.
