BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Iran is transparently developing its nuclear activities within the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Iranian parliament's strategic action plan, Iranian Vice President and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization Mohammad Eslami said during the event organized on the occasion of the commissioning of the first radiation center in Isfahan on May 30, Trend reports.
However, according to Eslami, Western countries are trying to slow down Iran's peaceful nuclear activities through political pressure on Iran. These countries are concerned about transferring the achievements of Iran's nuclear industry to other countries. Their concerns are reflected in the achievements, research, and scientific developments of Iran's nuclear industry. This is the reason why they have imposed a large number of sanctions against Iran's nuclear program to prevent the country's peaceful nuclear activities.
Eslami added that Iran provides itself with nuclear fuel by continuing its activities in this field. The country has now become one of the major ones in the world. Meanwhile, Iran is one of the major countries in the field of radioisotope production.
“Iran utilizes radiation technology in agriculture, industry, healthcare, and other fields. The country will set up 8 radiation centers during the current year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025)," he noted.
To note, the first radiation center was put into operation today in Iran's Isfahan province. The radiation center is equipped with a gamma self-protection system. Various agricultural products will be irradiated in this center.
