BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 29. A total of 86 small mines belonging to the private sector have resumed operations in Iran during the five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024), an official of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Abbas Jorjani said, Trend reports.
According to Jorjani, work has been launched to investigate the activities of all mines in 31 provinces with the cooperation of heads of industrial, mining, and trade organizations. To date, the activities of mining in two provinces have been investigated.
Jorjani added that if the activity of all mines in the country is restored, 192,000 people will be employed in the mines.
The official noted that the investment package for 83 mines has been prepared with the cooperation of industrial, mining, and trade organizations of the provinces. The tender will be organized after the preparation of projects related to the mines.
To note, a total of 378 mines were rehabilitated and 115 mines were expanded in Iran during the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024). Overall, by rehabilitating and expanding 493 mines, about 5 million tons were added to the country's mineral potential.
