(IRNA) - European Union High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana met a delegation from the Iranian Majlis (parliament) led by Majlis Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Mahmoud Mohammadi in Brussels Tuesday evening.

"We had a good meeting. We explained to him the views of the members of the Majlis and the people of Iran on the nuclear issue," Mohammadi told IRNA after the 45-minute meeting.

"We told him that the people of Iran do not accept the language of threats and sanctions," he said.

Mohammadi said Solana underlined Iran's right to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, reports Trend.

"Of course we want negotiations to continue and we asked Mr Solana to strengthen this trend and we support the EU's efforts to find a diplomatic solution," said Mohammadi.

Solana told the Iranian MPs that he held good talks with Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani and hoped that a way would be found for a solution.

"We also hope that Dr Larijani and Mr Solana, who is responsible for Iran's nuclear dossier, would find a solution which would be beneficial both for Iran and Europe," said Mohammadi.

A member of the Iranian delegation, Ms Elham Aminzadeh, told IRNA that they had good talks with Solana.

"Members of the (Iranian) parliament on behalf of the 68 million people will act against any forcible measures which may be adopted by the Security Council," she said.

A four-member Iranian parliamentary delegation led by Mahmoud Mohammadi arrived in Brussels on Sunday for a three-day visit for talks with their European counterparts and Belgian and EU officials.
