Iran, Algeria to boost scientific cooperation

(IRNA) - Iran and Algeria here Monday stressed the importance of bolstering their scientific cooperation.

Iranian Ambassador to Algiers Hossein Abdi Abyaneh met with President Tahar Hadjar of the University of Algeria, reports Trend.

During the meeting, the sides discussed mutual exchange of professors, grant of scholarships to students and expansion of scientific cooperation between Tehran University and the University of Algeria.

Hadjar said the University of Algeria was eager to bolster coperation with Tehran University.

He said that the university has a plan to open a Persian-language course in the next academic year, adding that initial work to implement the plan has been carried out.

He invited the chancellor of Tehran University, Abbas-Ali Amid Zanjani, to pay a visit to Algeria.

The Iranian ambassador, for his part, pointed to the many cultural and historical commonalties shared by the Iranian and Algerian peoples, and expressed the desire of Iranian officials and universities to expand cooperation with Algerian universities in the scientific and cultural fields.
