Iraqi nation to overcome problems: Ahmadinejad

( Irna ) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Wednesday expressed confidence that the Iraqi people would overcome their problems.

Ahmadinejad was speaking in a meeting with the visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Berham Salih.

"Problems will not break down greatness and resistance of the Iraqi nation. The Iraqi government and nation will leave behind this phase with wisdom, coherence and resistance in favor of Iraqis," he said.

He added, "Enemy conspiracies could not cut cultural links between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples."

He stated, "Cultural commonalties and interests of the Iranian and Iraqi nations are unique in all parts of the world."

Ahmadinejad stressed on providing help to the Iraqi government, its sovereignty, independence and national unity to reinforce unity among its people as an "important duty".

"There are several individuals who do not favor a strong and independence Iraq. They organize and stage great difficulties in the country," he said.

Ahmadinejad expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate with the Iraqi government and nation in various economic, scientific and technical fields.

"In the first step, establishment of stability and security in Iraq is important."

Salih, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of the Iraqi government and nation to the Iranian government and people and described as "amicable and growing" mutual relations between Tehran and Baghdad.

He said his talks with senior Iranian officials were positive and noted that the two countries enjoy enormous commonalties.

The Iraqi official praised efforts made by the Iranian government and nation to restore peace and stability to Iraq.
