The value of smuggled goods into Iran is estimated to be about $12-13 billion during the current fiscal year (started March 21), according to the spokesman of the Staff to Fight Good Smuggling Qassem Khorshidi.
He said that during the current fiscal year, about 400 smuggling gangs were neutralized, adding that according to estimations, the smuggling amount decreased by 20 percent in Iran, compared to last year, Mehr reported Mar.3.
Iran hasn’t published an updated statistics, but according to the latest official reports, about $2.2 billion of smuggled goods were seized in Iran during the first half of current fiscal year.
