Iran, India sign LPG deal for the first time

Iran and India LPG signed an agreement on liquefied gas purchase (butane and propane) for the first time, Mohammad Ali Barati the CEO of Iranian Gas Commercial Company (IGCC) told Shana news agency Apr.19.

IGCC is responsible for produced propane and butane of phases 4 and 5 of South Pars gas field.

Barati didn’t mention the LPG volume in the deal, but Iran produces 3,200 tons per day of LPG from the mentioned phases, based on the statistics of the South Pars Gas Company’s official website.

Iran announced last November year that its LPG exports reached 140,000 tons per month.

The official statistics of Custom Administration also indicate that Iran exported 160,000 tons per month of propane and butane in 2016.

India is Iran’s second biggest oil client after China. The country imported about 542,400 b/d of Iran’s oil during April 2016 to February 2017 (India’s fiscal year).
