Iran’s auto output increases by 15%

Over 306,500 cars were produced in Iran during the first three months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-June 21), the Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry reported July 3.

The figure indicates a rise by 15.2 percent as compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Passenger cars (including sedans and SUVs) accounted for 290,432 of the output with a production growth rate of 18.9 percent.

Iranian car makers also produced 12,925 pick-ups, 2,462 trucks and 316 buses in the 3-month period.

The country’s minibuses output also stood at 200 vehicles.

Iranian car manufacturers produced 134,204 cars in last fiscal month (May 21-June 21), including 127,634 passenger cars.

Iranian automakers manufactured 4,760 pick-ups, 986 trucks, 140 buses and 72 minibuses in the 1-month period.

Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20).

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall compared to the preceding year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, while the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.

The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
