Iran to export $8.5B worth of mineral products

Iran is expected to export $8.5 billion worth of mineral products in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), said the country's Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Jafar Serghini.

"Mine and mineral industries have a exported total of $8 billion worth of mine and mineral production this past Iranian year (started March 21, 2018)," said Jafar Serghini, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"In the meantime, only $1.5 billion worth of foreign currency revenues from exports have returned to the NIMA system - those of steel exporters, while copper exporters have returned some $400 million," he noted.

The official has also indicated the permission to import second-hand machinery for the mine industries.

"Any mine is obligated to provide for its steel units. The mine sector, during the past 7 years had a 2-percent negative growth, and despite high turnout in construction sector we try to continue the growth,"he added.
