Volume of loaded, unloaded cargo in Iranian ports increases

From the beginning of this Iranian year (March 21, 2019), the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo at Iranian ports has increased by 7.6 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports referring to Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Slightly over 122 million tons of cargo have been loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports to date. During the same period last year, this figure was 113.3 million tons, according to the report.

The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereydunkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 37.5 million tons of oil were loaded and unloaded. This is an increase of 3.3 percent compared to the same period last year (36.3 million tons).

During the same period, the volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 1.5 million tons. Compared to the same period last year (1.8 million tons), this is a decrease by 15.7 percent.

The volume of other container shipments was 18.4 million tons, which is 4.9 percent less than in the same period last year (19.3 million tons).

The general cargo volume was 16.1 million tons. Compared to the same period last year (15.6 million tons), this is an increase by 3.4 percent.

Dry bulk cargo volume was 45.7 million tons. This is an increase of 20.7 percent compared to the same period last year (37.9 million tons).

Liquid bulk cargo was 4.19 million tons. This is 0.9 percent more than in the same period last year (4.16 million tons).
