TEHRAN, Iran, May 31
Trend:
Iran's Ministry of Information and Communication Technology's plan should yield the production of some 14 million mobile phones in the country, said deputy minister Sattar Hashemi, Trend reports via IRNA.
He added that the increase in production allowed to create some 43,000 direct and indirect jobs, as well as save up to $1 billion in import substitution.
He added that PMO, along with the ministry, created a plan to support the development of domestic mobile phones and smart phones.
"Eight experienced companies, engaged in production of smart communication and electronic equipment, expressed interest in participating in this plan," he said.
"The ministry and producers would sign official contracts on the matter," said Hashemi, adding that the finished products may later be exported abroad.
