Iran would soon give response to EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton's letter for resumption of nuclear talks, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, ISNA reported.

Ahmadinejad speaking in the 4th UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in Turkey on Monday, said, "I think the response to this letter will soon be sent by the relevant authorities in Iran to Ashton."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran hails the P5+1 return to the table of talks. Moreover, it is always ready for talks under the framework of justice, respect and cooperation and we hope that the other parties come to understand that the dialogues should be made under the same framework."

He expressed hope Istanbul talks would bear final results.

"Iranian nation and government never deviated from rules of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and we hope that negotiating parties should finally accept the rules and I hope some steps be taken forward in Istanbul talks."

Ashton, in a letter sent in early February following the January talks in Istanbul, reiterated the group's position on Iran's nuclear issue.

She also affirmed that the world powers were keen to continue talks with Iran without any preconditions.

Iran and representatives of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany as well as Ashton met in Istanbul on 21-22 January.

The EU's foreign policy chief said the six world powers are 'disappointed' as the two-day nuclear talks with Iran have ended with no breakthrough.
