While talks are underway on all sides in Vienna, Austria on the Islamic Republic's disputed nuclear program, the nuclear chief of Iran and the United States energy secretary held a meeting today on the 13th day of the current round of talks.

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Ali Salehi and US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz held a meeting to discuss technical ways to remove concerns over Iran 's nuclear activities, Iran 's Fars news agency reported July 9.

After the meeting Salehi expressed hope that today would be the final day the nuclear talks in terms of technical issues.

Moniz for his part said that the sides are trying to finalize the technical issues.

"We're going to resolve the last issues, if we can," the US official told reporters.

The foreign ministers of the European members of the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) who had left Vienna has rejoined the talks as well.

A few days earlier a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency visited Iran to arrange cooperation for removing concerns about Iran 's nuclear program.

Iran and the six powers had an initial deadline of June 30 to hammer out a deal which would on one side remove sanctions on Iran and on the other limit the country's nuclear program.

As they failed to meet that deadline, they extended it for one week, and then for another two days as they failed once more.
