Islamic Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani referring to June 14th nationwide presidential and councils elections in Iran said Thursday that they are serious and fate making, IRNA reported.
According to an IRNA's reporter of the Iranian Parliament Palace, Larijani made the comment in an interview with the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen Arabic news TV channel.
Larijani added, 'Democracy is the main pillar of the system and the people play an important role in various elections, including the city and rural councils' elections, and the parliamentary elections, and this makes the people feel they are involved in deciding their own fate.'
Pointing out that these elections, keeping in mind the regional, international, and internal conditions are of great importance, Larijani said, "Therefore, the presence of people with various tendencies at this field is precious and the competitions, too, are serious."
Larijani said, "As you know two of the candidates have dropped out of the competition and six hopefuls are still present at the Iranian Presidential Election, which shows the presence of various types of ideas at the election scene, which is a positive point.
