Iran welcomes boosting cooperation with FAO

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.7

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the country welcomes boosting cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization.

He made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with the new representative of FAO to Iran, Raymond Nakouzi, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on September 7.

Zarif said that Iran is interested in cooperating with FAO in the areas of agriculture, forestry, fishery, environment protection, and water management.

Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati said in May that attracting capital needed for the development of the agriculture sector is a priority of Iran's Ministry of Agriculture, and that the government has provided all infrastructures to support foreign investment in this sector.

Iranian Deputy Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Behrouz Alishiri said in July 2013 that Iran had offered one hundred percent tax exemption for an unlimited period of time to foreign investment in the agriculture sector.
