By Temkin Jafarov - Trend:

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said the most important issue in the settlement of the Syrian crisis is to determine President Bashar Assad's political status.

"The third round of talks on the settlement of the Syrian crisis will be held in two or three weeks," IRNA quoted him as saying Nov. 27. "The talks will be held in either in Vienna or Paris."

Earlier on Nov. 15, about 20 countries gathered in Vienna, Austria to continue talks aimed at finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

The attending sides were the US, the UK, Russia, Iran, Turkey, China, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, France, Italy, Germany, as well as the European Union, and the United Nations.

Amirabdollahian said his country continues to support the talks on the political solution of the crisis.

"Some countries say Assad should step down, but we say the decision should be taken by the Syrian people, no one can decide for them," he stressed.

Amirabdollahian went on to add that Iran is not going to allow other countries to decide on the Syrian people's future political fate.

"We all have to work to create conditions for the Syrian people for them to successfully fight terrorism," he stressed.
