Abbas Akhoundi on Saturday stepped down from his position as Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, ISNA reported on October 20.
In a letter addressed to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Akhoundi announced his resignation and asked the president to accept his decision.
According to reports, the government will introduce his candidate for the ministry to parliament tomorrow.
Akhoundi may be appointed as Tehran’s mayor.
The parliament has so far impeached Abbas Akhoundi two times.
His impeachments were tendered to the legislature after an Iranian airliner and crashed in Iran.
