Georgia, Tbilisi, 1 July / Trend, N. Kirtzkhalia /

The Georgian government is working to strengthen the OSCE's role in the country, the chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, David Usupashvili told journalists in Istanbul.

"The session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE is continuing in Istanbul. It is planned to adopt some important resolutions, in development of which the Georgian delegation has been involved. There will be election of the management of the OSCE PA. We have our own position in relation of who we will support, because we want to strengthen the role of the OSCE in Georgia. As you know, today the organization's functioning in the country is limited because of the position of Russia, and we are looking for ways to make the role of the OSCE in the country appropriate in such an environment," Usupashvili said.

However, he noted that specific forms and mechanisms for solving this issue are not found yet.

"But the work is going on in this direction," David Usupashvili said.
