Georgian and Latvian Presidents Giorgi Margvelashvili and Andris Berzins stand for intensifying cooperation between the two countries in the field of business, trade and defence. The Georgian president's press service told Trend that Margvelashvili met with Berzins in Vilnius during the EU summit of the Eastern Partnership.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Margvelashvili once again expressed his deep regret over the tragedy that occurred in Riga's shopping centre and expressed sympathy for the Latvian people.

During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues relating to bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Margvelashvili thanked Berzins for Latvia's support for Georgia's territorial integrity.

The Latvian president stressed the importance of Georgia's initialling of the association agreement with the EU and expressed support for Georgia in the Euro-Atlantic integration and democracy building.

Later, President Margvelashvili invited his Latvian counterpart to visit Georgia.
