The foreign direct investments (FDIs) in Georgia in 2021 amounted to $1.1 billion, which is a 2-times increase, compared to 2020 ($572 million), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Meanwhile, the UK ranked first among the largest investors in Georgia in 2021. The investments from this country amounted to $596.6 million, which is an increase of 96.8 percent, compared to 2020 ($303 million). The current figure accounted for 51.8 percent of the total amount of FDIs.

The Netherlands is second on the list with $125.9 million of investments in Georgia in 2021. However, the current figure decreased by 37.2 percent, compared to 2020 ($200.7 million). The amount of the investments inflow from the Netherlands in Georgia in the reporting period accounted for 10.9 percent of the total FDIs.

The Czech Republic ranked third among the main countries of origin for investments in Georgia in 2021. The amount of FDIs from this country totaled $81.8 million (7.1 percent of the total FDIs inflow).

Meanwhile, in terms of the economic sectors, the main investments were attracted in the financial sector ($443.3 million), the entertainment sector ($230.5 million), and the energy sector ($157 million).
