The Indonesian government condemned violence in Syria and ask Syria to stop the brutality against the civilians in the Middle East country, a minister said here on Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

The Indonesian government condemned violence in Syria and ask Syria to stop the brutality against the civilians in the Middle East country, a minister said here on Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

"We condemned the recent violence in Syria as we have watch closely the development of situation there," Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said at the parliament building.

"We have consistently asked the government of Syria to end violence against civilians," the minister said.

The minister said that Indonesia would contribute its effort to end the violence in Syria by becoming a member of the United Nations peace mission team.

"We are parts of the United Nations observing team. Sixteen of our high ranking military and police officers have carried out duty as observer," said Natalegawa.
Indonesia has frequently taken part in peace mission in the Middle East under the coordination of the United Nations.
