The United States supports the move by European nations to demand the UN Security Council impose sanctions against Syria for failing to implement international envoy Kofi Annan's six-point plan, dpa reported.
"We want Chapter 7 and sanctions against Syria," US Ambassador Susan Rice said. "It is imperative that the council heeds the demand of Kofi Annan to insist that Syria fully and immediate implement the six-point plan."
