League of Arab States interested in political settlement of Syrian crisis

Rufiz Hafizoglu-Trend: The League of Arab States (LAS) is interested in a political settlement of the Syrian crisis, Ambassador of LAS in Turkey, Mohamed Al-Fatah El-Nasiri said in Baku on Thursday.
According to him, the developments in the region greatly influenced the political situation in the world.
LAS is closely following developments in Syria, El-Nasiri stressed.
During the conflict in Syria which began in March 2011, more than 115,000 people were killed in the country and over 4.2 million became refugees in Syrian territory and two million fled to neighbouring countries. The main burden of receiving refugees lay on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The total population of Syria before the conflict amounted to 20 million.
