An elderly Palestinian man was hospitalized on Saturday morning after he inhaled tear gas fired by Israeli forces in a northern West Bank village overnight, witnesses said Maan reported

Isam Ahid Faqih, 65, suffered suffocation when Israeli forces clashed with youths in Iraq Burin village around 3 a.m. and fired several tear gas canisters towards homes, locals said.

He was taken to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus for treatment.

Locals told Ma'an troops had raided the village overnight, sparking clashes with younger residents, after which soldiers fired tear gas and stun grenades.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said reports of injuries were being investigated. She said forces were patrolling the area during routine activity and encountered stones blocking a road.

When they tried to remove the blockage, locals threw stones at them and forces responded with "minimal tear gas and stun grenades."
