Zimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was prevented from travelling to South Africa on Thursday for a summit of southern African leaders after he was detained at Harare airport and his travel documents were confiscated, dpa reported.

Tsvangirai was released shortly after but his documents were not returned to him, his spokesman George Sibotshiwe said.
