U.S. law enforcement agents have arrested a top Mexican immigration official Sunday for carrying about 77 kilograms of marijuana, the Associated Press reported.
According to a U.S. official, the Mexican official, Francisco Celaya-Carrillo, was stopped in Lukeville, Arizona, Sunday afternoon as he came into the country in a pickup truck with his wife to do some shopping.
A Customs and Border Protection officer inspected the vehicle and found marijuana in the gas tank and in the spare tire. Celaya-Carrillo was in uniform and told the Customs officer that he was coming to the U.S. to do some shopping.
