Foreign Minister of Nicaragua Samuel Santos Lopez arrived in Minsk on an official visit on October 29-31, BelTA learnt from the foreign political department of Belarus. This is the first visit of such high-level delegation from the Republic of Nicaragua to Belarus.
"The main aim of the visit is to give an impetus to Belarusian-Nicaraguan interstate relations, to bring bilateral cooperation onto a brand new level, to look for the ways of intensifying trade and economic relations, expand cooperation in education and other areas," the Foreign Ministry says.
Mr Samuel Santos Lopez will meet with Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov, hold talks in the Education Ministry. He is also expected to tour of the Minsk Tractor works, National Library of Belarus, Khatyn Memorial.
The most promising areas of Belarus-Nicaragua bilateral trade and economic cooperation are the deliveries of the Belarusian tractors, trucks, road equipment, electric appliances, farm machines and equipment, fertilizers and tyres to Nicaragua, the Foreign Ministry says.
