Broadcasters NHK and NTV projected Sunday that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party was to win about 300 of the 480 seats available in parliament's lower house.Overall, the LDP and a possible junior coalition partner, New Komeito, were projected to win more than two thirds of the chamber, dpa reported.

Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's ruling Democratic Party of Japan was expected to take a drubbing, taking only 50 to 77 seats, after three years and three months in power, NHK reported.
