A volcano on the northern part of Indonesia's Sulawesi Island erupted on Wednesday morning, with ash columns reaching 4 kilometers from its summit, The Mainichi reported.
The 1,809-meter Mt. Soputan erupted at 8:47 a.m. local time, the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
