Ukraine's President opens Seoul talks
(ForUm) - Victor Yushchenko and his wife have been welcomed to Seoul's Presidential Palace by South Korea's President Roh Moo-hyun and First Lady Kwon Yang-sook, president's press office reported.
They were honored with a military ceremony that included a brass band performing anthems of both nations, reports Trend.
In his speech, the South Korean President said he pinned great hopes on the development of relations with Ukraine. He expressed confidence Victor Yushchenko's visit to his country was a chance to make our partnership more mutually beneficial.
The Ukrainian leader reassured him that our country was eager and ready to enhance cooperation in different areas.
Following the official ceremony, the two leaders opened Ukraine-South Korea talks, involving Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk, Defense Minister Anatoly Hrytsenko, Economy Minister Volodymyr Makukha, Ukraine's Ambassador to South Korea Yuriy Mushka, Ukrspetsexport Director General Serhiy Bondarchuk, National Space Agency First Deputy Director General Valeriy Komarov and the Head of the Verkhovna Rada Group for Parliamentary Relations with South Korea, MP Serhiy Larin.
They are expected to sign the following agreements:
Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of South Korea on Defense Cooperation;
Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of South Korea on Peaceful Space Exploration.
