The death toll hits 596, while number of injured peoples is more than 4,100 people following a massive earthquake in the Turkish Van Province, the country's Emergency Situations Department said on Sunday.
Earlier it was reported that death toll was 582, CNN Turk reported.
A massive 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the eastern province of Van on Oct. 23. Local seismologists predict that the death toll can hit from 500 to 1,000 people.
In total, to date 188 people have bee rescued, the Turkish Department said.
Rescue operations are carried out only in the rubble of 4 buildings. According to the TV company, more than 3,000 homes, damaged as a result of the earthquake, are being demolished.
