A shootout between the Turkish security forces and militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party in the province of Bingol resulted in their deaths. According to preliminary data, of the five terrorists, three were women, the Zaman newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state has been on-going for more than 25 years claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK group is recognised as a terrorist organisation by the UN and the European Union.
