Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on people from Turkey living in Europe to take an active part in politics, Turkish media reported May 21.

Erdogan noted that the Turkish community in Europe is one of the strongest ones and it should strengthen its role in the political and social life of European countries.

Erdogan also called on people from Turkey living in Europe to take part in the parliamentary and presidential election in Turkey, which will be held on June 24 this year.

About six million Turks live in European countries as a whole.

On June 24, simultaneously with the presidential election, the elections of MPs will be held in Turkey.

The incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Meral Aksener from the recently created Good Party (Iyi Parti), Temel Karamollaoglu from the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi), Muharrem Ince from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Dogu Perincek from the Patriotic Party (Vatan Partisi), Vecdet Oz from the Justice Party (Adalet Partisi) and Selahattin Demirtas from the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) are running for the post of president of Turkey.
