Turkish police are conducting a major operation against drug traffickers in Ankara, Turkish media reported July 12.

About five thousand police officers are involved in the operation against drug traffickers, said the report.

Operations are carried out at the previously determined 200 addresses. Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey announced the confiscation of 3,722 kilograms of heroin in January-February 2018. Also 16, 802 kilograms of psychotropic substances and 202 kilograms of Banzai drug substance were confiscated.

As many as 3,823 people, including foreign citizens, were detained within two months, as part of the fight against drug trafficking.

Around 20,000 tons of heroin were confiscated in Turkey in 2017.
